Hart backs ailing Pompey

Sun, 13 Sep 14:08:56 2009

Portsmouth manager Paul Hart has urged the fans to have some patience after his side slipped to their fifth straight defeat of the league season against Bolton.

Pompey sit rock bottom of the table having lost all of their games, but Hart believes his side will come good given time.

"I'm not trying to make excuses but we have only built our side in the last two weeks," said Hart. "Everybody else has had the whole summer to sort it out.

"We realise that but all we can do is concentrate on the positives that were in that performance.

"This has been a very hard and frustrating six months. It's not only us who have suffered the frustrations; it's the supporters as well.

"We've brought in some good players only a week ago and have tried to assemble them. I will defend those players I've brought in because I think they are good players. They have all got something to prove."

  3. paul hart has respect from the players look at how we are playing a few defensive twitches and we will finish no lower than 13th hart is good hes had 2 weeks with brand new faces give him 2 more weeks and we will be ready to go he also has a good relationship with al fahim who is a buissness man this is no hobby for him its to make money and for him to do that hes not going to want to have a high profile manager who is going to be demanding hart is patient and knows he and the team is good!

  4. simon.l, sorry my friend I do not agree as for Linvoy, yes he has always been a superb servant to the club. But can he still perform at this level, you need to take out sentiment and deal with reality. We just do not cut it and time is ticking !!

  5. Terryrussell40 - i don't think you can blame Hart after 5 games, when he hasn't had a settled squad to train with.
There is obviously a problem with our defence. Losing Johnson, Distin, Campbell has affected us more than we thought. Why isn't Linvoy Primus playing? He always gives 110%.
Hart is a good manager, shame that brian kidd didn't want to stay. Give him a chance

  6. I have always said that Hart is and would never be the man for the job. You have a proven Premier manager called Alan Curbishly, who could walk in have the players respect, work with the players that he has now and get at much out of them before January. And between now and then have his Scouts looking for new talent to keep us in the premiership, providing we have accumalated enough points at the start of the season. We just cannot afford to wait any longer, because you can forget Aston Villa for points and based on what I have seen so far this season we will be lucky to get any against Everton. So come on Pompey be positive and lets get someone in who can do the job NOW!!!

  7. What worries me most is that Hart considers his signings to be good. For a Premiership Club, he should be seeking to sign players who are used to competing at that level, not people from lower leagues who may come good in time. It's going to be a grim season for us.
