Dimitri Mascarenhas' 43 not out off 28 balls injected some late life into Hampshire's innings as they made 204 for seven in their NatWest Pro40 Division One match at home to Somerset.

The hosts has been 142 for five with 9.3 overs to go when the England all-rounder came to the crease after Chris Benham had made 42 and Liam Dawson 34.

Ben Harmison hit 67 off 64 balls and Phil Mustard 61 off 48 as Durham posted 224 for six in a reduced 35-over match at home to fellow strugglers Nottinghamshire.

In Division Two only an injury to Warwickshire's Neil Carter stopped the onslaught against leaders Kent as the opener retired hurt after smashing 103 off just 66 balls.

He hit six sixes and 13 fours before Jim Troughton (53) and Tim Ambrose maintained the momentum as the visitors posted 283 for six.

Second-placed Middlesex reached 242 for six against Derbyshire at Uxbridge after opener Nick Compton hit 107 off 117 balls.

Dawid Malan (32), Neil Dexter (31) and John Simpson (29) all contributed as the hosts looked to overtake Kent at the top of the table.

Northamptonshire seamer David Lucas led the way with three for 32 as Surrey were skittled for 132 inside 36 overs at the County Ground.

Spinners Nicky Boje and England's Monty Panesar both picked up two wickets, as did Johan van der Wath, as only Rangara Herath (39), Matthew Spriegel (18) and Tim Linley (17no) made double figures.
