Morecambe manager Sammy McIlroy was "absolutely delighted" with his side's goalless draw at Rotherham.
Rotherham made little headway against a packed Morecambe defence in the first half and the visitors' quick breaks caught the home side napping more than once.
The home side turned up the heat after the break, but the visitors completed a backs-to-the-wall defensive display to earn their first clean sheet of the season
McIlroy said: "We had conceded a lot of goals and we had to put a stop to that.
"We were up against top of the league Rotherham, who are flying high and to get something from the game I am absolutely delighted. The clean sheet is a bonus."
McIlroy added: "We kept going right to the end trying to win the game and the lads gave me everything, which I'm proud of. Our work rate was fantastic."
