The 2010 Burns meet will take place on January 30 and 31in Sheffield and will be designated as a preparation meet on the British Swimming World Class calendar.

The BUCS long course swimming championships, also in Sheffield from February 12 to 14, will be added to the British Swimming calendar as a preparation meet for swimmers to prepare for a busy year of competition.

"We believe these meets will greatly assist swimmers in preparation for the British Swimming Championships and the busy year ahead featuring a European Championships and Commonwealth Games," said Director of World Class Programmes John Atkinson.

"By working with the Burns meet and BUCS organisers we have strong preparation meets as part of British Swimming's 2012 Olympic preparations and this will be of great benefit to all involved."
