Scottish Premier League - Round-up: Celtic win

Eurosport - Thu, 13 Nov 10:40:00 2008

Celtic made it nine league wins on the trot with a 3-0 victory at home to Kilmarnock to move four points clear of Rangers at the top of the SPL table.

FOOTBALL Celtic Sheridan - 0

Rangers were held 0-0 away at Motherwell to drop further off the pace of their Glasgow rivals.

Young striker Cillian Sheridan opened the scoring for Celtic on 18 minutes after working a neat one-two with Scott McDonald.

Sheridan added a second on 75 minutes when he scored from close-range after Allan Combe spilled Massimo Donati's shot.

Celtic made the game safe six minutes from time when Shunsuke Nakamura finished off a flowing move with a clinical finish.

Rangers were left to rue a host of missed chances after drawing a blank at Fir Park. Motherwell were indebted to a fine performance from goalkeeper Graeme Smith to keep the Gers at bay.

Chris Porter and Stephen Hughes both went close for Motherwell, while Kris Boyd had a goal disallowed for offside as Rangers slipped up in the title race.

Dundee United stretched their unbeaten run to eight games following a 2-0 success over Hibernian at Tannadice.

Second half goals from Darren Dods (54) and in-form striker Francisco Sandaza (60) were enough to give Craig Levein's men the points.

Christian Nade's early goal after just six minutes proved to be enough for Hearts as they overcame rock bottom Hamilton .

The win moves Hearts into fourth place, while Hamilton are still looking for a first SPL win since September.

Falkirk missed the chance to climb above Inverness in the table after being held to a 1-1 draw in the Highlands.

Michael Higdon gave Falkirk an early lead on 19 minutes, but Adam Rooney ensured a point for the home side with an equaliser ten minutes from time.
