Rico: Lester will get recovery time

Thu 13 Dec, 04:45 PM

Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson has vowed not to rush the Spireites' top scorer Jack Lester back from his ankle injury too soon. The hot-shot striker who has scored 15 goals in just 18 appearances this season has missed the last two league matches - a 2-0 defeat to local rivals Rotherham and a 1-1 draw against Bradford - after he suffered a badly gashed ankle in the win at MK Dons last month.

Lester has resumed training this week ahead of the Spireites' trip to Accrington but Richardson is not prepared to risk making the injury any worse.

He said: "He won't come back until he is ready. To risk him would be folly.

"I am not going to play him unless he is 100 per cent fit. Hopefully that will be sooner rather than later."
