Zahavi Denies Ronaldinho Talks

Thu 13 Dec, 12:13 AM

Pini Zahavi insists he has not been in Barcelona to negotiate a deal for Chelsea to sign Ronaldinho in January.

Reports have claimed that the Israeli agent discussed Ronaldinho's availability during a meeting with Barca officials.

But Zahavi insists he is unaware of any possible deal for Chelsea to take the Brazilian to Stamford Bridge when the transfer window reopens.

"I have not come here to talk or negotiate about Ronaldinho," Zahavi is quoted as saying in Sport.

"Everything I know I have read in the press. I do not know if there are any talks planned with Chelsea and I have no idea what will happen in the future."

Instead, Zahavi has been in Barcelona to discuss a new contract for Giovani Dos Santos, who has also been linked with Chelsea.

There have been conflicting reports regarding the length of the Mexican's deal, with some suggesting it lasts until 2012 and others claiming it expires at the end of this season.

Zahavi confirmed the young forward is not on a long-term deal at Camp Nou, but is hoping to agree an extension with the Barca hierarchy.

He added: "He does not have a contract until 2012. He has a short contract. If he had a long contract I would not be here and would not need to be talking to Barca.

"I have a very special relationship with Barcelona and I go there every three or four weeks.

"Of course, we are talking about Giovani, but there has been nothing certain.

"We are only halfway through the season. We shall see what happens, but anything could happen. I do not know if it will be easy."
