Reports in Brazil on Wednesday confirmed a deal worth around £8.6million had been agreed between the Bundesliga side and Breno's current employers Sao Paolo.

And Germany's Bild newspaper on Thursday claims the 18-year-old player was in Munich ready to put pen-to-paper on a four-year contract, making him Bayern's first winter signing.

Officially a deal can only go through after January 1, but Bayern are keen to convince the youngster his future lies with them before Christmas so as to beat off competition from Real Madrid.

Breno, who was voted Brazil's best newcomer of 2007 by local sports journalists, should then join his new team-mates for training in the New Year.
