Dave Penney believes the permanent signing of Ian Miller adds some much-needed "quality strength in depth" to his Darlington squad. The defender celebrated joining from Ipswich on a two-and-a-half-year deal by scoring in Saturday's 3-0 home win over Bury.
The 24-year-old had two previous loan spells with the Quakers and Penney is delighted to snap up the centre-back permanently.
"Ian will be a great addition to the squad," beamed Penney. "Although his chances so far have been limited due to the exceptional form of Alan White and Steve Foster he has always impressed when given the chance.
"We need to have quality strength in depth and this is exactly what Ian's signing gives us."
Foster returned to the side against the Shakers - who sacked manager Chris Casper after the loss - after overcoming illness, and Penney added: "It was good to have Steve back. He's always talking and organising everybody and that has been missed in our last couple of games."
