Sheffield Wednesday have rejected a bid for defender Tommy Spurr from Championship rivals Queens Park Rangers.Hoops boss Luigi De Canio has been busy during the transfer window using the money of Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore to bankroll a squad reshuffle which he hopes will help pull the club away from the relegation battle.
The latest bid for Spurr is believed to be in the region of £750,000 after Wednesday rejected a first approach for the player last week
The new offer is still not interesting manager Brian Laws, though, as he is not prepared to part with a player who has played in 23 of the club's 26 Championship games this season and is seen as a key part of the future.
"We have received an improved offer from QPR for Tommy Spurr but the bid was turned down immediately," Laws told the club's official website.
