Wilson welcomes keeper quandary

Mon 14 Jan, 08:15 PM

Hartlepool manager Danny Wilson has welcomed the competition for places between goalkeeping duo Jan Budtz and Arran Lee-Barrett.Lee-Barrett was given his first appearance in three months during Saturday's 1-1 draw at Northampton as Pools ended a six-game losing streak away from Victoria Park in all competitions.

Wilson was full of praise for the 23-year-old stopper as he bids to get the club's promotion push back on track.

"I think he's been very patient and as I've said before I think there's good competition for places," Wilson told the club's official website.

"I was just thinking at this moment in time maybe Jan was having a confidence blip and that's not unusual because we're conceding goals.

"I think Arran has deserved his chance and that's not to the detriment of Jan. We've got two good goalkeepers and it's good that they can keep each other on their toes."
