All Well In Land Of The Giants

Mon 14 Jan, 12:22 AM

A tremendous display on the road from the on-form Belfast Giants saw them claim their ninth straight win with a 6-1 victory at Sheffield Steelers.

The hosts are on a bit of a slide, having now lost their last four games.

The Giants were dominant all night and were in control early on as they scored three times on the powerplay through George Awada, Carlyle Lewis and Peter Campbell

- these all while Steelers Ryan Finnerty sat out a fighting major.

The second period saw only a single goal - but again it was the Giants coming up trumps with a shorthanded goal by Campbell after Jonathan Phillips had missed a penalty shot for the home side.

The stuffing had clearly been knocked right out of the home side and Giants extended their lead to 5-0 with a powerplay goal from Campbell completing his hat trick.

Mark Morrison then got in on the act before Steelers broke the shutout hopes of Stevie Lyle when Doug Sheppard netted a consolation.

By assisting on all three of Campbell's goals in the game, Ed Courtenay skated to the top of the EIHL points scoring chart while Campbell himself is also right up there in third spot, just behind Coventry's Adam

Calder.
