Hefti claims second win of the season
Beat Hefti made the most of Thomas Florschuetz’s absence at the fifth FIBT Bobsleigh World Cup leg in Koenigssee through injury to pick up his second win of the season.
Hefti and brakeman Thomas Lamparter began the new season with victory in Igls however Florschuetz and Kevin Kuske and have been untouchable since winning the next three.
However a stress fracture of the fibula, suffered at leg four in Altenberg, has ruled Florschuetz out for at least the next two legs and Hefti took full advantage at the first in Germany.
Hefti led after the first run and then built on it in the second to end with an overall time of 1:39.91minutes and a winning margin of 0.30seconds.
Lyndon Rush and Jesse Lumsden took silver – a week after being part of the Canadian pullout from leg four in Altenberg following injuries suffered to their teammates.
And German duo Manuel Machata and Andreas Bredau completed the podium in third a further 0.12 back while Kuske partnering Maximilian Arndt was sixth.
