Kearney maintains perfect start

Olympic champion Hannah Kearney maintained her unbeaten start to the FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup season after defeating home hope Justine Dufour-Lapointe in the dual moguls final in Canada.

The 25-year-old travelled to Mont Gabriel in Quebec with moguls and dual moguls victories in Ruka and Meribel respectively and after qualifying in first backed that up by taking gold.

Kearney, who upset Canadian Jennifer Heil to win Olympic women’s moguls gold in 2010, was too good for Dufour-Lapointe in her home state for a third successive World Cup victory.

Another Canadian was beaten in the small final and battle for bronze behind Kearney and Dufour-Lapointe, Chelsea Henitiuk failing to get the better of Russian Ekaterina Stolyarova.

However the home crowd did have something to shout about in the men’s dual moguls final as Mikael Kingsbury took gold for his third successive World Cup victory as well.

Moguls and dual moguls wins in Ruka and then Meribel respectively were followed up with success in Mont Gabriel, Kingsbury ensuring American Jeremy Cota had to settle for silver.

And like the women’s dual moguls final bronze went to a Russian Sergey Volkov got the better of another American Sho Kashima to complete the podium in Canada.
