Italy coach Roberto Donadoni is in talks about an extension to his current contract, the Italian football federation confirmed on Thursday.Donadoni signed a two-year contract when he took over from Marcello Lippi after the Azzurri's triumphant World Cup campaign.
And, having successfully steered them to Euro 2008, Italy football chiefs are keen to see the 44-year-old in charge beyond the summer tournament.
"This morning FIGC president Giancarlo Abete and national coach Roberto Donadoni met in Rome," said a statement on the official FIGC website.
"It was a fruitful meeting in a positive climate, with the objective being to sort out in the briefest time possible a contractual agreement which will satisfy everyone.
"President Abete and Roberto Donadoni agreed to meet up in the next few days planning to arrive at a mutual decision by the end of the month which will allow the coach to continue his work calmly."
