St Mirren midfielder Andy Dorman insists the Buddies can start to dream of Hampden after reaching the last eight of the Scottish Cup.Dorman was St Mirren's matchwinner in a fifth-round replay at foggy Tannadice, with his goal enough to defeat Dundee United 1-0.
St Mirren now face a quarter-final against First Division St Johnstone, with Dorman calling on his team-mates to give maximum effort in their quest to reach the May 24 showpiece at the national stadium.
He said: "The good thing about the cup is that anyone can win it and I know we have to do all we can to try to get into the final to give ourselves a chance.
"We have a tough quarter-final task coming up and I am looking forward to it."
St Mirren have endured a difficult season in the Scottish Premier League, and they currently sit a lowly 10th in the table.
However their recent form has been promising, with Gus MacPherson's revitalised side losing only twice in their last seven league fixtures.
Dorman believes St Mirren's victory over United will give the club more confidence when they return to top-flight competition at Falkirk this weekend.
He is also delighted that by qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup, St Mirren ensured they still have something to play for beyond the confines of the league.
Falkirk's sole ambition for the remainder of the season is to attempt a top-six finish.
Dorman, who joined St Mirren from New England Revolution last month, is relishing the cup involvement.
He said: "It has given me a massive lift and the club now has something to look forward to away from the league.
"Cup runs are always nice for both the players and the fans, so we are excited about getting into the quarter-finals."
St Mirren could easily have made the quarter-finals on the back of a more convincing scoreline against United, with Craig Dargo and Mark Corcoran both guilty of squandering good opportunities.
However, given that St Mirren dominated the original tie between the clubs only to blow a host of chances, Dorman was just happy to have found the net once in 180 minutes of football against United.
He said: "It was a tough task over the two different games and obviously it was harder coming to Dundee in the replay and trying to get the win."
