Eto'o suffering from thigh problem

Thu 14 Feb, 01:30 PM

Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o will miss this weekend's trip to Real Zaragoza after returning from African Nations Cup duty with an injury. The Cameroon striker arrived back in Barcelona on Thursday morning and immediately underwent tests with the club's medical department, where it was revealed he was suffering from a problem with his left thigh.

That means the 27-year-old striker will be missing for this weekend's league game with Zaragoza, but Barca hope he will be available for next Wednesday's Champions League last-16 first leg against Celtic.

"There is no muscular injury and the player will have three days of specialist treatment to be ready for the Champions League game against Celtic," a Barcelona medical statement read.

"As such, he will be out for this Saturday's Primera Liga encounter."

Eto'o is believed to have picked up the injury during Cameroon's 1-0 loss to Egypt in the final of the African Nations Cup on Sunday, although he did manage to play the full 90 minutes of that match.
