Lincoln City chairman Steff Wright is confident manager Peter Jackson will make a full recovery from throat cancer. The 46-year-old was appointed as Imps boss in November and has steered the club out of the bottom three in League Two and up to 16th place in the table.
He will undergo intensive radiation treatment, during which time he will be replaced by assistant Iffy Onuora.
Wright said: "Peter has been undergoing tests for a few months now and has always known that, should he need treatment of this nature, he would have the full support of everyone around him.
"Having battled hard to get the team into a much better league position, it's now time for Peter to focus on his own health in the full knowledge that he has the 100 per cent support from his chairman, directors, his management team and everyone connected with the club."
Wright added: "He's a very strong individual and I have every confidence that he will come through this episode in his life even stronger."
Jackson, a former defender with Bradford, Newcastle and Huddersfield, had two spells in charge of Huddersfield from 1997-99 and 2003-07.
