Jewell sets Rams points target

Thu 14 Feb, 04:15 PM

Derby manager Paul Jewell has set the Rams a target of 16 points for the season with the club all but relegated. The Premier League's rock-bottom club have taken only nine points from 26 matches so far, with another seven ensuring Derby avoid matching Sunderland's lowest-points total record.

"All we want to do is be the best we can and get past 15 points," remarked Jewell.

"Fairness to the supporters, that's the most important thing. When you've 30,000 watching, you have to be concerned about every performance and every result.

"If the fans thought I wasn't bothered about results they wouldn't accept it, and that's quite right.

"I'm as desperate for results now as I ever have been."
