Cardiff boss Dave Jones has warned against too much pressure being placed on rookie midfielder Aaron Ramsey's young shoulders. The 17-year-old impressed in Tuesday's 0-0 draw at Coventry after being preferred to Stephen McPhail in the middle of the park, and while Jones admits he has a real talent on his hands he has stressed he intends to treat him with kid gloves.
"We have to be very, very careful, we all need to relax on the kid and be aware of his development, progression and age," Jones told the South Wales Echo.
"Don't get me wrong, Aaron had a super game in midweek, but he is still developing and while things were scrappy in the first half of the game against Coventry, that is what you will find when you put kids in."
He added: "This kid will be bigger and better than a lot of those who have come through at Cardiff City, but I stress it must be done right," added Jones.
"And that's where the trust between me and the coaches must be relied upon, because there are more on the way in the 15 to 16 year age groups. There is lot of pressure on Neil Ardley (academy manager) to keep them coming through."
