Oldham boss John Sheridan is hopeful skipper Sean Gregan will be available for selection within the next three weeks. The former Leeds defender, 33, has been sidelined since sustaining an Achilles injury in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy defeat at Doncaster last October.
He underwent surgery to cure the problem and has since made steady progress and could return to action by early March.
Sheridan told the club's official website: "Greegs is doing well and is probably about three weeks away.
"He is good to have around the club and is great with the younger players. Sean's been around the game a long time and we've missed him, so hopefully we'll have him back soon."
Sheridan also revealed that injured trio John Thompson, Lee Hughes and JP Kalala are facing a similar timescale, although Andy Liddell may be out for a little longer.
