Stoke striker Mamady Sidibe is desperate to keep on scoring after finally breaking his duck for the season against Southampton. The 28-year-old netted for the first time since May against the Saints on Tuesday to help keep the Potters bid to win promotion from the Championship on track.
Sidibe struck the third goal in a 3-2 win at the Britannia Stadium which enabled Tony Pulis' side to climb up to third in the table.
They will go top, at least temporarily, with victory over Scunthorpe on Friday night.
"I have waited a very long time for that goal," Sidibe told his club's official website.
"It's February now so it is a big relief. It is better than never though, and hopefully now I have got that one or two more are coming.
"It has been more than six or seven months, and when you don't score, you think that it may never come. Thankfully I scored though and I am very happy."
Stoke almost threw away the three points on Tuesday after a second-half lapse in concentration saw them leak two goals, meaning Sidibe's strike turned out to be the difference between the two sides.
"We scored three goals and at half-time we thought it was going to be easy," he said.
"But we came back out and conceded a goal too early, and that put a lot of pressure on us.
"Nobody was ready, even the fans were not sitting down properly. It was every early in the half and maybe we were not concentrating properly.
"Then they scored a second goal and put even more pressure on us and the game became very hard.
"We had to work very hard to make sure we go the win. It was very nerve-wracking at the end but the most important thing was to get the win and we did.
"When I scored the third goal, I thought we would go on and score more goals. I certainly didn't ever think it would be the goal that wins us the game."
