Thu 14 Feb, 05:30 PM

Barnsley have completed the emergency loan signing of goalkeeper Luke Steele in time for the FA Cup clash with Liverpool. The 23-year-old West Brom keeper will go straight into the Tykes' starting line-up for the fifth-round tie at Anfield.

Barnsley's first choice keeper, Heinz Muller has been ruled out for the rest of the season after rupturing his cruciate knee ligament and replacement Tony Warner, on loan from Fulham, is cup-tied.

Steele began his career at hometown club Peterborough before securing a dream £500,000 move to Manchester United in 2002 and after two loan spells at Coventry joined West Brom on a permanent basis in 2006.

Meanwhile, the Tykes have won their appeal against Lewin Nyatanga's dismissal at Plymouth on Tuesday night and he will not serve a two-game ban.

The central defender was sent off at Home Park in the fourth minute for an alleged professional foul on Jermaine Easter.
