First-team coach Paul Trollope believes the visit of Southampton offers Bristol Rovers a good chance to reach the FA Cup sixth round. The Pirates have not made it through to the last eight since 1958 - 50 years ago - when they lost 3-1 at Fulham and ironically Trollope's team disposed of his old club Fulham at the third-round stage of this season's competition.
The former Wales international feels that Rovers are capable of progressing at the expense of higher-league opposition again against managerless Southampton at the Memorial Stadium on Saturday.
"No disrespect to Southampton because they will go into the tie as favourites and we will be underdogs, but it is a tie which offers us a real chance to progress," said Trollope.
"I don't think they will enjoy coming to play on our pitch, they won't be used to that, so we will go into it with the belief and the aim of getting through to the quarter-finals.
"We have had some good home cup games in the last few seasons and this will certainly be another one in front of a full house and the television cameras. It will be another special occasion for us."
