Birmingham City v Nottingham Forest

Defender Djimi Traore could make his Birmingham debut after signing on loan. Forward James McFadden remains sidelined with a knee injury while right-back Stuart Parnaby is also still out with a thigh problem and midfielder Kemy Agustien is recovering from a groin operation. Right-back Stephen Carr is not eligible to feature as he is not yet registered as a Blues player.

Forest captain James Perch (concussion), striker Robbie Earnshaw (hamstring) and defenders

Joel Lynch (back) and Ian Breckin (groin) may feature. Striker Nathan Tyson should be fit despite sustaining a gash above his right eye but Julian Bennett (knee), Arron Davies (calf), Paul Anderson (fractured forearm and dislocated wrist) and Guy Moussi (ankle) remain sidelined.

Bristol City v Southampton

Cole Skuse is available after a back injury but fellow midfielder Marvin Elliott (groin) and defender Jamie McCombe (stomach) will be sidelined for around another month. Striker Stern John, on loan at City from Southampton until the end of the season, is ineligible to face his parent club, while defender Christian Ribeiro is nearing a return from knee ligament damage.

Saints defender Rudi Skacel may return after being frozen out of the squad for requesting a transfer last month. Lee Holmes must sit out another two weeks as he bids to recover from a knee injury. Lee Molyneux is set to make his comeback from a one-game ban but Michael Svensson (knee and Achilles), Jamie White (leg and ankle) and Wayne Thomas (knee) are long-term absentees.

Burnley v Wolverhampton Wanderers

Burnley manager Owen Coyle could hand winger Chris Eagles a recall after a chest infection. Left-back Stephen Jordan is on the road to recovery from a knee ligament injury but will not be rushed back into action from the start, with Christian Kalvenes set to deputise once more.

Striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake is expected to have recovered from a stomach bug in time to play. Christophe Berra should continue at the heart of defence although Neill Collins is pushing to be included following his return from a ban. Defender Jason Shackell is on loan at Norwich for the rest of the season.

Charlton Athletic v Plymouth Argyle

Charlton hope to have Mark Hudson (hip) and Graeme Murty (ankle) back from injury. Defender Darren Ward looks set for his home debut after joining on loan from Wolves. Kelly Youga is back in contention following a ban and could take Grant Basey's place at left-back.

Plymouth manager Paul Sturrock is facing a defensive crisis with David McNamee (fractured cheekbone) and Mat Doumbe, who has a one-match suspension, out. Dutch centre-half Marcel Seip is doubtful after missing Argyle's last two games with a groin injury.

Doncaster Rovers v Sheffield Wednesday

Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll will give Dean Shiels (ankle) a late fitness test. Defender Matthew Mills is doubtful with a groin injury and striker Steve Brooker is still struggling with a calf problem but midfielder Richard Wellens is fit after recovering from a dead leg.

Wednesday boss Brian Laws has no new injury or suspension problems and could name an unchanged line-up. Striker Francis Jeffers is banned while Akpo Sodje needs one or two matches with the reserves to build his match fitness following a long-term knee tendon injury.

Ipswich Town v Blackpool

Ipswich will be without suspended midfielders Alan Quinn and David Norris, with Veliche Shumulikoski and Danny Haynes poised to step in. Argentinian winger Luciano Civelli is still short of match fitness and will not feature but Dean Bowditch will hope to be on the bench. Full-back Moritz Volz remains sidelined with his groin problem while Ivan Campo is also out with a torn calf muscle.

Blackpool are without on-loan midfielder Charlie Adam through suspension but goalkeeper Paul Rachubka and midfielder Claus Jorgensen return from bans. Striker Ben Burgess (knee) and midfielder Keith Southern (ankle) are definitely sidelined, meaning midfielder Francesco Carratta - who has arrived on a free transfer from Royal Antwerp - could come into contention.

Preston North End v Norwich City

Preston will be without suspended winger Ross Wallace, with Simon Whaley and Darren Carter in line to replace him on the left flank. Defender Eddie Nolan (Achilles) is a doubt, Callum Davidson has a calf strain, striker Neil Mellor is recovering from a hernia operation and goalkeeper Wayne Henderson and defenders Liam Chilvers, Michael Hart and Neal Trotman are out.

Gary Doherty will partner Jason Shackell at the heart of the City defence after a successful appeal against the red card he incurred against Bristol City. Shackell has returned on loan and should be back in the side. Midfielder Sammy Clingan is 50-50 with a thigh strain, on-loan Ryan Bertrand (ankle) is out but Sheffield United loanee David Carney is in the squad after featuring for Australia in midweek.
