Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey insists club owner Steve Morgan's dressing-room outburst after the home defeat by Liverpool earlier this month did not contribute to Mick McCarthy's downfall as manager.
McCarthy made it clear he was unhappy that Morgan vented his feelings towards the players in the aftermath of the Reds' 3-0 win at Molineux.
But, when asked if that had any bearing on McCarthy's sacking just 12 days later, Moxey said: "Honestly no. Mick wasn't happy with it and he said so. We had a staff meeting the following day where I believe we cleared the air and Mick and Steve had the same relationship they had before he (Morgan) went into the dressing room."
He added: "It's not football protocol for a chairman or an owner to go into the dressing room. That's why you'll never find me there."
"But you know what - he's the owner and he can do what he wants. If an owner who is putting his money in wants to do it, he can go and do what he wants."
Morgan returns from a skiing holiday on Wednesday to start the search for McCarthy's successor, with Alan Curbishley remaining the favourite with the bookmakers.
He has already indicated his willingness to talk to Morgan if he receives the call.
Steve Bruce and Neil Warnock are also among the potential contenders who have made it known they are interested after losing their jobs at Sunderland and QPR earlier this season.

Mick`s biggest failure is that he`s too stubburn,Hope he learns to listen in the next job. The muppet wolves fans were right because we are still he and he ain`t.
No 2 Spot on mate. About November of last year would have been the time and I personally stated this on these comments. Anew manager would have had time to bed in, get to know the players and do some business in the transfer window. I understand it is Moxey that has consistently save Micks Skin.
'Ambrosia' custard want to sponsor shirts next season...lol.
You can appoint who you like but the fact is that it will be very difficult to survive with the current defence. This decision should have been taken a month ago in the middle of the transfer window.
Mick was always too soft on the team. Wolves now need a hard man. Is Ron saunders still alive?
