Beattie doubtful for Canaries clash

Fri 14 Mar, 11:45 AM

Sheffield United striker James Beattie is a major doubt for the Blades' home clash with Norwich in the Championship on Saturday. The forward was replaced early in the second half of the midweek win over Coventry due to a groin strain and is rated 50/50.

Jon Stead, Billy Sharp, Luton Shelton and Rob Hulse - who replaced Beattie against Coventry - will all be vying for a starting place if Beattie fails to make it.

Manager Kevin Blackwell can call on midfielder Stephen Quinn, who has served a three-match ban, but winger Lee Martin, on loan from Manchester United, remains sidelined with knee cartilage trouble.

Defender Chris Armstrong (groin), midfielder Nick Montgomery (broken metatarsal) and striker Danny Webber (knee) remain long-term absentees.

The Blades, who have taken seven points from their last three league matches, are chasing a third straight win under Blackwell.
