Cohen keeps faith in boss Hodgson

Fulham legend George Cohen has lent his support to the club, insisting manager Roy Hodgson has the experience to steer them clear of the drop.Cohen, part of England's celebrated World Cup 1966 side and a Cottagers stalwart for over a decade, remembers battling for survival during his own time with the club and believes the current crop must have faith over the remaining nine fixtures.

The first of those is against Champions League hopefuls Everton on Saturday.

Cohen told the club's official website: "The situation we're in at this moment is not unfamiliar to me.

"As people know in most of my games for Fulham in the 50s and 60s we found ourselves near the bottom of the league.

"As players you have to help yourselves and you know what needs to be done to get out of trouble. You have to work very hard, it's not going to be easy - nobody ever said this game was.

"It goes without saying that hard work is the best policy and my advice to the players would be to listen to your coach, have faith in him because you have a good chance of getting out of the situation."

Cohen, 68, has been impressed with the job Hodgson has done since taking team affairs over following Lawrie Sanchez's brief but unsatisfactory stint.

"Roy Hodgson is a very experienced man. I like the way he's got the team playing a good push-and-run style and we look better," he said.

"I think we are giving people something to think about. With a bit of will, want and desire we've got a decent chance of getting out of it."
