Chris Coyne and Kevin Watson have added to Colchester's woes ahead of the vital Championship clash with FA Cup semi-finalists Cardiff.Centre-half Coyne, one of the Us' better performers during their slump to the foot of the table, suffered a hamstring injury during Tuesday's defeat by Sheffield Wednesday and faces a fortnight on the sidelines.
That will mean new loan signing Matt Heath will be set for an instant debut.
Veteran midfielder Watson, who has endured an injury-hit season, has suffered a recurrence of his calf problem and is sidelined again.
Teddy Sheringham (foot), Pat Baldwin (knee), Jamie Guy (heel), Mark Cousins (appendicitis), Aidan Davison and Mark Yeates (both shoulder) are all still missing.
Winger Kevin McLeod missed out on Tuesday through illness and could be fit while midfielder Luke Guttridge is available after a neck injury.
