Walters blow hits Ipswich plans

Fri 14 Mar, 12:15 PM

Ipswich boss Jim Magilton will be without top scorer Jonathan Walters for Saturday's Championship clash with fellow play-off hopefuls Charlton.Walters has been nursing a knee injury for the last few months but missed the 4-1 defeat at Barnsley in midweek with the problem and has now been told he will face six weeks on the sidelines after undergoing surgery.

Pablo Counago scored at Oakwell so could partner Alan Lee up front, although new arrival Shefki Kuqi looks likely to make his second debut for the club.

Danny Haynes is another doubt after he pulled out of the side to face Barnsley after aggravating a groin injury in the warm-up.

Full-back Luis Castro Sito turned his ankle in the reserves last week and remains out as Magilton seeks a much-needed win to reignite his side's promotion hopes.

Ipswich have slipped out of the top six after an indifferent run of form and a first win over the Addicks since November 2000 would lift them level on points with Alan Pardew's men.
