Wolves have allowed striker Jay Bothroyd to join Championship rivals Stoke on a month-long loan deal.
The 25-year-old has scored four goals this season and has not started a game for Mick McCarthy's side since the FA Cup defeat at Cardiff last month.
McCarthy said: "Jay has not been involved recently and Tony Pulis is looking for someone to replace the injured Mamady Sidibe.
"I told Jay if he wanted to play at the moment he would have to go out on loan.
"One or two League One sides have been in for him but he didn't want to drop down a division - but then Stoke came in."
Stoke, in second place, are currently on course for promotion to the Premier League while Wolves are 11th.
McCarthy added: "They aren't in competition with us and maybe Jay can do us a favour and do a bit of damage to our competitors."
