Fulham finally won on the road as goals from Andy Johnson, Simon Davies and Diomansy Kamara gave them a 3-1 Premier League win at Bolton.
Until the hard-fought and deserved victory at the Reebok, Roy Hodgson's Whites had not won away in the league all season, and had only scored three goals.
They doubled their goals tally and bounced back from consecutive home defeats to Blackburn and Hull, and did so at the expense of a Bolton side let down by poor defending.
Both sides created opportunities but Fulham edged their hosts both in terms of chances and possession.
Bobby Zamora was restored to the starting line-up after missing out against Blackburn, and he combined with Johnson midway through the first half but his finish was blocked.
The Trotters should have snatched a 28th-minute lead after Mark Schwarzer spilled Johan Elmander's free-kick, but Schwarzer and Aaron Hughes denied Gary Cahill twice before Gavin McCann somehow put the ball wide with the goal at his mercy.
Jussi Jaaskelainen denied Zamora a goal with a superb reflex stop after Paul Konchesky's left-wing run and cross, while Johnson could only shoot into the ground from a corner that followed the good spell of pressure.
Roy Hodgson's men took the lead when Johnson exploited a mix-up between Andy O'Brien and Jaaskelainen to prod home from close range three minutes before the break.
Bolton levelled in first-half stoppage time when some slack defending by the Cottagers allowed Kevin Davies to waltz into the box and slide the ball past Schwarzer.
Fulham were again the better side in the second half and - while there was a hint of controversy about the goal that put them back in front - it was both deserved and justified as replays showed that Davies's low 56th-minute shot crossed the line before J'Lloyd Samuel's attempted clearance.
Bolton threw everything forward in hope at finding an equaliser, with Gary Cahill's header wide from a McCann corner the closest they came, and while Schwarzer looked uncomfortable at times in dealing with the high ball, Brede Hangeland was imperious in defence and rebuffed anything that came his way.
Fulham added a late gloss to the result when substitute Kamara drilled a low shot into the bottom right following a terrible clearance by McCann, an emotional goal for the Senegal man as it was his first since returning from a long injury lay-off.
The result puts Fulham ninth, although 10th-placed Manchester City are yet to play, while Bolton stay 11th.

An away victory for Fulham. It's been since last May right?
The team needed the victory after disappointments versus Hull and Blackburn.
It's good the could regroup and get that victory on the road.
I did not expect that result...so much surprises today ))
btw 1st time I see Fulham in red :)
