Kevin Davies has revealed his devastation after picking up the booking that rules him out of Bolton's next two Premier League games. The Trotters ace was the hero for Bolton at the weekend as he scored the only goal of the game in their 1-0 win over West Ham.
But with 20 minutes remaining Davies was booked - his 10th yellow of the campaign - which results in an automatic two-match suspension, ruling him out of the forthcoming matches with Middlesbrough and Tottenham.
"It was a harsh booking, I'm devastated by it. I played the ball and was getting up when he pulled out the card," bemoaned Davies.
"But someone else can step in and be the hero."
Bolton's win at the weekend put them to within two points of safety and Davies is confident they will survive.
"It's like we've set up the Great Escape after a difficult season. We showed a lot of spirit and togetherness. We got back to being a team," he said.
"We could have rolled over, but every game we go into we look to win. It's just not been happening for us but I think we have a good chance of getting points.
"It's given everyone a massive lift. The result has reeled the other two teams in. If we'd not won and they had it would have been a seven-point gap. Now everyone's buzzing around."
