Hayden Mullins insists West Ham are not a negative side despite opting to play with a lone striker in the defeat at Bolton. The Hammers have recorded just one win in their last eight Premier League games, with defeat at relegation battlers Bolton a sixth loss in that spell.
Manager Alan Curbishley chose Bobby Zamora on the flank and with Dean Ashton as the lone striker at the Reebok Stadium, which again failed to produce a goal.
However, midfielder Mullins insisted: "We were trying to get the ball out wide and trying to work off Deano, which is what we've done for most of the season, and it has worked well for us.
"It was no different against Bolton, but they were really desperate for the win and three points was massive for them.
"We knew they would hit us with everything, and one lapse on the corner let us down."
