Roeder hopeful over skipper

Mon 14 Apr, 03:45 PM

Norwich boss Glenn Roeder is "very confident" captain Mark Fotheringham will recover from a neck injury in time to face West Brom.Fotheringham suffered the injury in training the day before the Canaries' derby clash with Ipswich but Roeder expects to have the 24-year-old midfielder at his disposal for the weekend.

"He's been a real influence on the side these last three or four months," Roeder told the Eastern Daily Press.

"It's the first training ground injury we've picked up - and the day before the game as well, it's real bad luck.

"He is in form, he is a driving force so it didn't help, but that is not an excuse, it gives someone else an opportunity to play.

"We'd have rather Fozzy been fit, but he wasn't and that's certainly not an excuse for not playing well. At the moment we feel very confident he will be fit for the West Brom game."
