Leeds United manager Gary McAllister is waiting on the fitness of striker Jermaine Beckford ahead of Tuesday's clash with Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield.

Beckford sustained an ankle injury against Leyton Orient a week ago and then lasted less than an hour in Saturday's thrilling 3-2 win over Carlisle.

McAllister is desperate to play his main striker at the Galpharm Stadium, but will have to wait until the last minute to determine his fitness.

"It's not got any worse," McAllister told the club's official website. "He's still not 100 per cent, it's just a case of giving him time.

"We are well-covered, but the combination of Dougie Freedman and Jermaine has been exciting.

"I think it's better than Saturday, but it's just a little movement forward. We'll give it until the final moments."
