Tom Huddlestone has admitted he will have to consider his future at Tottenham if he does not start playing more regularly.
The midfielder revealed last month that he was frustrated to have fallen down the pecking order at White Hart Lane in recent times.
Boss Harry Redknapp has assured Huddlestone that he is a "big part" of his plans and handed the 22-year-old a starting role in place of the suspended Wilson Palacios in Saturday's 1-0 victory over West Ham.
Huddlestone, who has a long-term contract with the club, hopes to become a permanent fixture in the Spurs side.
However, he has dropped his strongest hint yet that he would be prepared to move to secure regular football.
"I am not young any more; I need to be playing week-in and week-out," Huddlestone said in The Times.
"I just want to be playing, hopefully at Tottenham but if not, then I will have to have a think.
"If the club decided that they want to get rid of me, then so be it, but it is out of my hands.
"It has been very frustrating as every player wants to play in every game. I am not different."
England manager Fabio Capello identified Huddlestone as one of the three most promising youngsters in the country last week, alongside Theo Walcott and Joe Hart.
Huddlestone was flattered to hear the remarks but realises there is no chance of him breaking into the England team at present.
He explained: "Capello's comments just add to the frustration, but if I am sat on the bench week-in, week-out, I am not going to be able to play for my country."

Go on leave! Your only a championship player anyway and thats where you'll end up.
Big fan of Hudds, he has a lot of potential and he could develop into one of the best midfielders/sweepers in the game. The problem is his attitude to each game, he is like Jekyl and Hide. In some games I have seen him dominate the midfield and some games done good impersonation of scarecrow.
What is he complaining about!!!! He's not young anymore!!! Only 22yrs old.!!! At what point in one's life DO you become old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ruddy @#$%!!! Be thankful you are part of THE SPUR's. When you get chosen, you play with pride. When you get side-lined, it's someone else's turn & NOT YOUR's!! So stop Sulking & be grateful that you are given the accolade's even though you may not start every match!!!!!!!!!
Sell hudd
sign Mink Petatrabosk
hold on, its got nothin to do with how many goals scored by a player, its how they play. jenas does his job well, just not well enough, when huddlestone is on form, hes fantastic, better than jenas. its harrys decision but jenas and huddlestone are both very gd and only one can be picked
Go To Arsenal pls!! I love to see that! you are much better than Alex Song!
go preston
I CAN NOT SEE ANYTHING IN JENAS 3 GOALS THIS SEASON NOT GOOD ENOUGH. NOW THAT SPURS ARE SOUND I WOULD LIKE TO SEE HUDDLESTONE AND PALACIOS GIVEN A GOOD RUN IN MIDFIELD.
I said when u signed wilson from us we should of asked for a player exchange with this fella. Hope steve bruce signs him cos we need someone with cattermole!
Huddlestone's only problem is that he doesnt work for the ball, and he he doesn't have pace, but both can be worked on if he is played more often, so I believe we should keep him.
We have GOT to keep him! COYS.
Get rid of Jenas, Huddlestone's a lot better
Hmm. He seems to get lots of the ball when he does play, but doesn't always make the best use of it - free kicks floated over to nobody in particular for example. And for a strapping lad, plays like a big girl's blouse too much! Like that Berbatov. Seems to be the Spurs style, but it's not very effective in dominating and winning games. We need a consistent goalscorer mainly.
We'd be very stupid to let him go, he's an awesome player and should definately be starting every game, especially over Jenas.
come to liverpool FC !!!!!
While Jenas shows amazing skills when under pressure in games, and last ditch situations, he fails to deliver consistently and more importantly, keep the ball in games when we are on top - which is essential in killing the opposition off, and getting the points.
Huddlestone, not only keeps it well - can pass 60 yards to feet if necessary - but is huge, strong... can head the ball, can volley and shoot from long range, and can play all through the middle of defence and midfield.
I would like to see more of Huddlestone in an advanced role like he had on Saturday, where he can hit more shots, and head more crosses. He MUST stay for us to remain strong in that midfield area.
come over to fulham lad and play better football!!! hahaha
Very difficult for Harry to choose between the midfield players, it seems Palacios has his spot who also seems to be the real deal. Myself and other spurs fans wouldn't like to see Tom go. But with the growing partnership between Palacios and Jenas it will be hard for Big Tom to get into.
Keep Tom get rid of Jenas
