Mick Docherty has joined Stan Ternent's backroom staff at Huddersfield as he believes the Galpharm Stadium outfit is full of potential. The 51-year-old teams up with Ternent and assistant Ronnie Jepson after the trio worked together at Burnley.
Docherty told Huddersfield's official club website: "I had a few other irons in the fire, but the opportunity to join a club with so much history and so much potential is just too good to turn down.
"There are a lot of parallels with Burnley, who are now established in the Championship and I firmly believe Stan can do the same thing here at Huddersfield.
"He and Ronnie are both very experienced and very driven guys and it's exciting to be a part of their plans to take the club forward."
Docherty, son of former Chelsea and Manchester manger Tommy and a former defender with Burnley, Manchester City and Sunderland, also worked alongside Jepson at Gillingham.
