Brett Ormerod is confident Nottingham Forest are "capable of challenging" for promotion in their first year back in the Championship.Ormerod helped Forest sneak second place in League One after joining on loan from Preston for the end-of-season run-in, making 13 appearances for Colin Calderwood's side.
And he believes the Reds will be in a strong position if they recruit the right players in the summer - even if he has no idea whether he will be one of them.
"Hopefully there are more good days to come for this club. This squad is capable of challenging in the Championship," he told the Nottingham Evening Post.
"The standard in League One is higher than when I played in the division a few years ago, so they've done well to win promotion. I am sure the manager will make a few signings to strengthen things, but they are already well set up for next season.
"You never say never, I would love to come back. But I have a year on my contract left at Preston and we will have to see what happens. I wasn't looking at my long-term future when I came here. I honestly don't know what will happen."
