Novak Djokovic soared into contention for the number two place in our EXCLUSIVE claycourt rankings after claiming his first Masters title on the slow dirt last week in Rome.
The Australian Open champion won his tenth career ATP trophy in the Italian capital, but more importantly took a first-ever Masters Shield on clay.
This means that if Hamburg champion Roger Federer fails to defend any of his points in Germany and Djokovic is able to win the title, then the Serbian will surpass the Swiss in second behind Rafael Nadal.
Also at stake for Djokovic this week in Hamburg is a possible shot at the number two position in the ATP world rankings, which Nadal has held since July 2005. But we think our clay standings offer a bit more prestige, don't you?
The other big winner from Rome was obviously fallen finalist Stanislas Wawrinka, who in addition to cracking the top-ten of the ATP rankings for the first time in his career moves up to 13th in our clay list.
James Blake and Radek Stepanek also break into the top-20 thanks to quarter-finalist points from Rome.
