Lazio fans clashed with police and tried to smash shops in Rome city centre following their team's Coppa Italia final win over Sampdoria.
Rome's Stadio Olimpico will host the Champions League final between Manchester United and Barcelona on May 27 despite several episodes of football-related violence in the city in recent years.
Police said three arrests had been made before and after Wednesday's Coppa Italia final at the Olimpico - which Lazio share with local rivals Roma - but added that five police officers had been injured.
Rome club Lazio won 6-5 on penalties having drawn 1-1 after extra time.
At the weekend, Rome mayor Gianni Alemanno played down fears of a police strike over pay and conditions during the Champions League final.
In a separate matter, judicial sources in Italy also said the Naples villa of Real Madrid defender Fabio Cannavaro, who is poised to move back to former club Juventus, had been seized for a third time by authorities because of construction offences.

tired of the greed who do you support you english man @#$% on ireland carlos c seems like a nice fella
jhnfrel - I didn't say you WERE a liverpool fan, I ASKED if you were - sorry if there weren't any pictures to the accompany the words to help you along with the reading and understanding of my comment - child education is not part of my skill set. Now f--k off and watch your sunday league team lose a two horse race and leave us adults alone, as it's WAY past your bed time and you have school in the morning.
carlos c - I am not in denial, and I don't need to google because I was at the game in question, so I know what went on - I witnessed it.
tiredofthegreed i dony support liverpool you @#$% i support celtic now go home i hpe some manc gets hurt com on ireland
er let me correct myself not the last time but in 07...
tiredofthegreed are you in denial....last time man U came to Rome it was in 07 and just goolge Red Army vs Roma Ultras....nuff said no i don't say it happens all the time but with tensions flare and when its in an important game on the line just look what happened with Chelsea now imagine if that was in the final....
if it happens then let it happen ,if there is riot lets just see if uffa can answear to our comments,i don't think so
carlos c - you are living in another decade, mate. It's our european 'friends' who are the ones with hooliganism problems these days. The last time United fans had a problem with hooliganism on the continent was around 1976. We know how to behave ourselves abroad these days, win or lose. Last year's final probably had the most potential for hooliganism, giving the opposition, but passed without incident. Also, I have been to Barca on a few occasions to see United play, and we always had a party with the Barca fans, including the time we got battered 4-0 in '94. If it kicks of in Rome, it won't be because of the actions of United or Barca fans............let's hope the hosts get into the party spirit and enjoy the day.
jhnfrel - you wouldn't be a liverpool fan by any chance would you?
emmalouise your dry ya hav ta hav a bit of craic and fun i hope there is some fighting and da dirty manks get banned from europe because thers sore losers
jhnfrel - you are everything that is wrong with football fans.
There are a lot of decent people who go to matches up and down the country, but it's the ones like you who give us all a bad name!
i hope a few itlians hurt some dirty manks and send them back crying after barca wins the cup come on ireland!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL, Italian football. All that ever happens is match fixing, riots and OAP's kicking a ball on a pitch.
I can just imagine when the English Hooligans lose on May 27th...
CATANIA E' SALVO
Nazi salutes, policeman killed at a football ground, riot police attacking Man U fans like animals, top teams being banned from Serie a for match-fixing, Nandrolone, flares thrown onto the pitch of a derby, Inter Milan player breaking someones nose in a Champions League game, strike threats. Sound like the perfect place for the Champions league final????? England has had its problems, recognised them, accepted punishment, dealt with it and moved onwards and upwards. Italy should clean up its act or suffer similar punishment as England in 1985, in time football and Italy will be better for it.
I'm a huge fan of Italian football (Forza Juve) but if the Italian fans don't smarten up they should ban Italian teams from Euro competion for at least five years. Teach those slobs a lesson. They do a disservice to the game. I'd be sfraid to take my kids to a game.
i hope no one gets injuried on the final even if a team wins or loses
k.j_marshall_94
But its ok to riot if they lose? Spoken like a true Englishman... IDIOT.
Why would the riot if the won. Idiots
I bet UEFA take no action against Lazio yet will fine Chelsea over the Champions League fracas! Typical Anti English UEFA
