Penney glad to be back in business

New Oldham boss Dave Penney is enjoying being back in the transfer market - despite being inundated with telephone calls since the end of the season.

Penney was prevented from making any signings during the latter part of his two-and-half-year stay at Darlington as the club entered administration.

Their perilous financial situation eventually saw Penney leave the club last month and he admits that the move to Boundary Park has rejuvenated him.

"At Darlington I was out in the cold in the respect of talking to players," he told PA Sport. "There was nobody ringing you because you couldn't bring any players in.

"It's nice that you can come in and talk to people. It's non-stop, we're not going to rush in, we're talking to people and having a good look. There's lots and lots of players out there and we'll have a look and see what's out there.

"It's great that people are ringing me now and talking about players and while it's a different level I'm working at it's also a different level of players that I'm speaking to"
