Walter Smith admits Rangers had enough chances to defeat Hibernian and return to the top of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League but the Ibrox boss had no complaints about the endeavour of his players with the title race now set to be decided on the final day of the season.
The Rangers camp were unhappy at the decision not to award a goal for a Nacho Novo effort, which they believe crossed the line, before the striker did find the back of the net to cancel out Derek Riordan's opener.
Smith concedes other goalscoring opportunities were squandered throughout the game. He said: "I'm frustrated for the players because they had to put a great deal of effort into the game."
He added: "In the first half I felt we managed to dominate the game territorially in terms of possession but we never really created many opportunities.
"We contrived to miss the opportunities that came our way so I was a little frustrated at the end that we didn't manage to win the game.
"We've won a couple of times here this season when we didn't dominate in the manner that we did this time so that's a little bit frustrating."
Victory in the final Old Firm derby of the season on Saturday saw Rangers move ahead of their rivals in the SPL but they now find themselves trailing Celtic, who sit top with better goal difference and more goals scored.
Smith knows fans will now be expecting a comprehensive victory over Aberdeen on Saturday before Celtic travel to Hibs the following day.
He added: "You've got to win the games, it doesn't matter when you play.
"We operate under a level of pressure whether somebody is three points in front or they lose a game or win a game or play one day or another day."

I dunno whether he did play defensively or not, as he had Boyd and Velicka up front, but we were terrible in the first half. Its easy to say that he should've played Lafferty and Novo from the start after the 2nd half performance, but the fact is we should've humped Hibs off the park with the team that started. The team was far too complacent at the start of the game and they got shown up for it!

have to agree with ya. Defensive tactics F@#&ed us there. if he played lafferty and novo from the start we would have been in about them the whole game.
