Barnsley will receive £200,000 from Sheffield United as part of Brian Howard's transfer if the Blades win promotion to the Premier League.
The Blades paid Barnsley £500,000 for midfielder Howard in January following an initial loan spell and will pay the Tykes the additional amount if they beat Burnley at Wembley on May 25 in the Championship play-off final due to a clause in the contract.
Barnsley owner Patrick Cryne told the Star: "It's not often I'll find myself supporting Sheffield United, but I will be on this occasion."
Under the terms of the transfer Sheffield United will pay Barnsley a further sum if they survive their first season back in the top flight.
