Middlesbrough youngster Rhys Williams has committed his international future to Australia.
The 20-year-old defender, who enjoyed a successful spell on loan at Burnley this season, had a productive meeting with Socceroos coach Pim Verbeek this week.
Williams had made 10 appearances for Wales` Under-21s and was called up to the senior squad by John Toshack but did not feature.
He told the club`s official website: "Once Australia showed a firm interest in me there was only one way it was going to go.
"Pim told me all about his plans for the future and made it clear that I was going to be a part of them, so I was keen to get all the paperwork sorted as soon as possible.
"I was born and bred in Australia, so it is natural that I should want to play for them. I can't wait to get involved for the first time."

Aussies rarely turn their back on Australia, born & bred in Aussie, of course he wants to play for people with a winning attitude, Wales have enough trouble keeping up with the rest of the world playing rugby, with football, no chance! Ned Kelly
