Ligue 1 - Vikash Dhorasoo is closing in on a return to football after Sochaux expressed their interest in signing the former Paris Saint Germain midfielder.
Dhorasoo has not played since being sacked by the capital club last October and many thought a return to the game, especially in France, would prove impossible.
But according to L'Equipe, Sochaux president Jean-Claude Plessis is keen on bringing the controversial World Cup squad member to the Stade Auguste Bonal, where he would be allowed to play in his favoured deep lying playmaker role.
After eight months of inactivity, it will take some time for the 33-year-old to reach his peak fitness, but new coach Frederic Hantz is thought to be willing to take the risk on a player who comes with a certain amount of baggage.
Dhorasoo fell out with the French Football Federation during last summer's World Cup, when he spent a month filming a documentary on the France team and his experiences of the tournament from the bench. He was warned not to publish the film and later retired from international football.
On returning to France, he angered the management at PSG by publicly criticising then coach Guy Lacombe, who then terminated his contract - the first time a player has been sacked in France since 1973.
