Gillingham manager Mark Stimson has opened talks with an unnamed striker from a League One club as he looks to shape his squad for next season.Stimson has refused to name his target but spoke to the player on Friday after talks with chairman Paul Scally on Thursday.
The Gills boss has made a new striker his priority over the summer as they look to bounce back to League One at the first attempt following relegation - but concedes he is facing competition for the player.
He told KentOnline: "We'll put something across to him and then we'll see how long it takes for him to think about it.
"He is very keen and there were good signs but he's also speaking to two League One clubs this week. We're facing competition and that's not surprising because the player we are after is decent."
