Boss Jim Magilton wants Ipswich to end their miserable recent run in the Carling Cup when Leyton Orient visit Portman Road in the first round. The Tractor Boys have not made it through to the second round of the competition since 2004.
They have suffered penalty shoot-out defeats to MK Dons and Peterborough in the last two years, following on from a 2-0 home defeat to Yeovil in 2005.
"Our record has not been good in the competition lately and that is something we have to change," Magilton told the club's official website.
"Orient will relish coming to Portman Road and trying to take the scalp of a club in a higher division. It will be an opportunity for their players to show they can cope with playing at a higher level.
"We will have to match their work ethic and commitment, but we are at home and we proved last season that we are a threat to any team at Portman Road."
