Real to lodge £75m Ron bid to Glazers

Sat 14 Jun, 09:45 AM

Real Madrid will reportedly sidestep Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United and lodge their bid for Cristiano Ronaldo straight to the Glazers. The Daily Express claims that the Spanish giants will offer £75million for the Portuguese winger's signature but, aware of Ferguson's determination to hang on to his star player, will make the proposal directly to the club's heavily in-debt owners.

Ferguson, though, appeared confident two weeks ago that the Americans would not entertain such an offer.

"I've had a couple of meetings with the Glazers and their attitude was, 'to hell with them'. They would sit a player in the stand - I'm telling you - to prove a point," he insisted.

"They're not going to give in. They've got balls and I've been delighted with them in that respect."

But, maintains the newspaper, 'that will not deter Real from going direct to the Glazers and it is becoming increasingly difficult for Ronaldo to return to Old Trafford. Real are fully briefed on the Glazers' highly-leveraged ownership of the club - with massive annual interest payments - and are not deterred by the Americans' insistence that their £600million debts and £80million interest repayments can be managed out of club resources.'

Should the seemingly unlikely claim from the Daily Express that Madrid have offered Ronaldo £300,000 per week be true, then it is easy to see why the player's head has been turned.

  2. Please ronaldo stay at united remember madrid they want only good players example beckham where is beckham in the football competition.but you will be not star if u join in madrid.and another reason think too much about spanisch football is very slowly is the one point to increasing not you football.

  3. Scolari selfishly advised ronaldo to join Real cos he knew he'd be the chelsea boss and would rather see ronaldo taking a backward step than face him this season. Look out Chelsea players, your new boss wll sell you u up the river. I'm UTD through & through and fancy arsenal and spurs for 2nd & 3rd!

  4. ferguson u make ronaldo like a king in MU..he think without ronaldo,MU will be relegated to first division nextyear?????....all the player cannot make MU champion next year without ronaldo..????..just let him gooooo...all the player meaningless for you..fergusen only know RONALDO,RONALDO,RONALDO.....

  5. ronaldo still has a 4 year contract with man u,so that needs to be paid up first, which would cost approx £30million and then you can start talking about transfer fees etc. so realisticly in today's over-inflated prices you would be talking in excess of £100million.when you start talkin amounts like that plus maybe player exchanges also we would be daft not to think about kicking him out of the door.don't get me wrong i'm seriously a big united and ronaldo fan but money talks and as long as the money went back into transfers and not into the glaziers massive debts, then think of the team we could end up with.messi ,kaka maybe?and even the possibility of rooney playing back in HIS favourite position.
after a lot of thought this closed season and" yes he should go" and " no he shouldn't" to even "no he can't,can he?" i say get as much as possible and make a true dream team ronaldo's lasting legacy.

  6. Hells Bells! As a lifetime united fan, and in view of all the shenanigans both from Real AND Ronaldo, he should be "let go". But not too easily. United ahould screw Real for as much as they can get (and of course use the dosh to buy a few quality players that they can develop).
As a Real watcher who has lived in Spain for 16 years (and I effin hate 'em), I hope Ronaldo follows the fortunes of so many of Real's new signings of great promise and turns out to be a total flop there. Whilst he may be possibly the best in Europe right now, he's too much of a prima donna as someone else pointed out.

  7. Who will be next on Real's wanted list from Man Utd.This summer it's Ronaldo
will next summer be Tevez or Rooney?Frankly I've gotten sick of all the speculation
at the end of the day somebody needs to stand up to Real and the players who threaten
to go on strike.I say let let them rot in the stands and lets see who'd want them after that.Ronaldo allegedly is going to get 300 grand a week at Madrid, how much more money does this greedy bast**d want it would take me around 10 years to earn what he does in a week now.

  8. Ronaldo should be left to folow his heart since the controversy wi not benefit neither parties.

  9. While in one way I would love Ronaldo to stay, because he is the best player in the world right now, in other ways I would quite happily let the disloyal prima donna bugger off to Spain and bugger up his career at Madrid. He's still learning and has a lot to prove and I don't think he would shine anywhere near as much as at United. If United could get Sneijder, Robhino and Sergio Ramos in return, that would be one hell of a deal, one that we would come out far stronger from. That would be 3 quality players in exchange for one. Make it happen SAF!

  13. just let this f@!kin ronaldo off from Man U..he think he will be great at real..??!! just load him of than used the money to buy some others great player like messi, kaka, or even ronaldinho.. ronaldo don't learn from the past like beckham..and other player that already flop from real

    From UberSparkle920, on Sun 15 Jun 6:03AM
  14. let him go he is not all that let him fail at madrid like so many others did

  16. look first things first ive been a united fan all my life...ive seen some amazing players come and go..i.e becks and ruud...but the way that thay left united was the way saf wanted it....if ronaldo thinks that hes bigger than united then your wrong.dont get me wrong i think wot ronnie can do is awsome.hes got to be the best player in the world at the moment thanks to saf and the team...but if he wants to go then let him..thers no point winging about it let him get on with it..

From kevin, on Sat 14 Jun 4:05PM
  17. seriously, if the money is really that good maybe Man United sould let him go. Cause NOBODY is above the club and it has been proven everytime. Man U should take the money in fact they should demand more since Real are so desperate to land him maybe to the tune of 150 million pounds and see where Real stand on that.

From STORM, on Sat 14 Jun 3:55PM
  18. real..don't take ronaldo..take villa instead

From firdaus, on Sat 14 Jun 3:42PM
  19. If Real Madrid have offered Ronaldo thew amount mentioned in the article it shows they have been breaking the rules. So if this is the case, then FIFA have no alturnative to but to punish them. A fine of monetary value is useless, they need to be barred from Champions League or the like for a period of time, to have any effect on them, anything less is a joke.

From Alan K, on Sat 14 Jun 2:51PM
  20. Come on Real.Dont Waste your money on Ronaldo. He's not even a good player. Messi is better than him. Plus he's younger and not that Cocky. Better waste your money on someone like Messi, or Van der Vaart or even Villa. Villa sounds a possible move since Valencia may fancy big money transfer to the club. Lets see if Man U can gain more CL Title than Real has right now. To collect 9 CL title takes a lot of time n effort. Can Ronaldo keeps his vision despite his dreams to plays in the spanish league?Let us observe his career development. Then only we can determined that he deserve the title world best players for like what, 5-7 consecutive years? :- I still dont think Big Phil can cope with EPL. I dont think he has the Adaptability like Jose has. Inter might be another threat to Man U in maintaining their last CL title. But those are just predictions. We'll start observing when EURO 2008 ends. ^_^
