Manager Maurice Malpas wants Swindon's Carling Cup clash against Championship club QPR to set the benchmark for the season. It is the fourth successive season that Swindon have been handed a home draw in the first round of the competition, but the Robins have lost the previous three.
"It is important that we put on a good performance and show what we can do against a team such as QPR. We will be ready for it," Malpas told the club's official website.
"I am delighted that we got a home start. QPR will no doubt put together a decent side but it will give us a chance to pit our wits against an established Championship club."
